Ken Thomas TNT founder recognised.

9. June 2013

On Sunday, June 9 the Harden- Murrumburrah Showground was the location for commemorating 100 years since the birth in Murrumburrah of Ken Thomas.

Ken is the founder of TNT transport.
Supported by the Harden Historical Truck and Tractor Club Inc. the weekend featured a truckie reunion, antique trucks, model trucks, stalls, entertainment, a quilt exhibition and much more.

A book about Thomas, "The Truckie Who Loved Trains" will also be launched on the day.
Thomas started TNT with one truck in 1946 and turned it into the largest transport operator in Australia within 25 years. Ken led TNT until 1972.

Ken Thomas was nominated by David Wilcox into the National Road Transport Hall of Fame at Alice Springs with his induction taking place in August, 2012.
He was described as a leader to the developing interstate hauling fraternity.

He was instrumental in the formation of the Long Distance Haulers Association and was the foundation vice president and then the Trustee for some years.

HO-CL Oils joined other local businesses to support the day, we would also like to acknowledge Mick Divall who displayed his 63 Kenworth Day Cab at the HO-CL stand.
